The Adult Basic Education Teacher's Toolkit is a revision of Adult
Basic Education: A Teacher's Theory to Practice Handbook published in 1992
by the following:
Jean Storm, Beatrice
Martinez, and M. Asoodeh were especially instrumental in the graphic
design, technical assistance and word processing of this handbook.
The model described in the Facilitating Adult Learning in a Holistic.
Participatory Classroom section of this handbook draws extensively
from the work of Elsa Auerbach and staff of the English Family Literacy
Project, University of Massachusetts, Boston, MA, as described in Making
Meaning, Making Change. Without the foundation of their work, many
ideas presented herein might not have developed.
*This work was done in part as an internship project under the supervision
of John Wooley, Center for Initiatives in Education, and with direction from
