Dr. Richard Ricard is currently Associate Professor, in the college of Education’s department of Counseling and Educational Psychology. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego and his PhD. from Harvard University in Developmental Psychology. His Research interests lie primarily in the application of psychology to educational settings and Program evaluation in counseling and social service entities. He is particularly interested in the evaluation of programming efforts that address the needs of students considered ‘at-risk’ for academic failure. He teaches a variety of courses at the master’s and Doctoral level in personality theory, and quantitative skills. He is currently a member of the Texas Counseling Association (TCA), The American Counseling Association (ACA), and the American Evaluation Association (AEA). He is presently serving as Chair of the Research Committee of the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC). Dr. Ricard has been active in program evaluation for the past 10 years for a number of educational and social service agencies. He has been an Even Start Evaluator for over 5 years.
