Goal/Objective

To properly apply the rules of capitalization within business letters.

Introduction

  1. Reviewing rules of a standard letter
  2. Reviewing rules of capitalization
  3. Reviewing common and proper nouns

Vocabulary

Activity

Students will bring a type of business letter to class. One group removes all the captial letters and replaces them with lowercase letters. The groups will then exchange letters with another group and edit them.

Extension / Enrichment Activity

 

Evaluation Activity

The letters will be returned to the original group for the group to check or evaluate the group's knowledge of the rules of capitalization.

Real-Life Connection

The students will be able to identify proper and common nouns for everyday usage.

Steck-Vaughn language exercise - review pgs. 3 and 85. Students will have to master 80%.
