Activity/Procedures

Warm-up Pictures of vocations and workplaces for students to identify. Show tools and identify jobs that use these tools.

Introduction Diagram on the board of categories of jobs-store /office, health, school, public service, private service

Presentation Students categorize jobs; discuss likes and dislikes. Discuss skill, attributes and education required. Discuss abbreviations. Introduce want ads. (Teacher must be familiar with ads and vocabulary to answer student questions). Upper levels-discuss dialogue between employer and job applicant.

Practice Level One Converse with partner with pictures What does he/she do? He is a ____.

Practice upper levels Role-play boss and applicant Bingo

Evaluation/Assessment

Oral assessment of dialogues and identification of pictures. Research and report on jobs.

Grammatical Focus

Gerunds and infinitives modals.
