Estimated time needed to complete this lesson plan: 12 hours (3 hours four times a week).
The Lesson Plan
Introduce the lesson:
As a class, review parts of a sentence (subject, verb); read and review
examples of good paragraphs.
Teach the lesson:
Explain the difference between sentences and paragraphs. Read sample
paragraphs.
Practice the lesson:
As a class, students brainstorm information about where they are from.
Students will write paragraphs from the information disclosed during
the brainstorming session.
Assess the lesson:
Students will share their paragraphs with a peer. Revisions will be made
based on peer-feedback and teacher assessment.
Apply the lesson to the real world:
Students can use this information when applying for a job, when enrolling
children in school, and when meeting someone new.
