Estimated time needed to prepare for this lesson plan: 15 minutes
Estimated time needed to complete this lesson plan: 16 hours for 2 weeks
The Lesson Plan
Introduce the lesson:
Begin discussion by having students recollect occasions they have disciplined
their children. Ask what type of communicative words and phrases they
use in various disciplinary situations. Discuss examples of phrases
used for disciplinary purpose. For example:
Please turn off the television.
You need to do your homework.
Stop talking on the phone.
Don’t run.
Teach the lesson:
Carry out an exercise using “Wh” words that identify areas
in which to apply rules and discipline. An example, “ What are
your clothes doing on the floor?” Give several of these type questions
to reinforce the learning concept.
Practice the lesson:
In pairs students make up “Wh” questions and present a scenario
to the rest of the class.
In the presentation, one student is the parent, the other being the child.
Assess the lesson:
Extensive discussion as a whole class.
Apply the lesson to the real world:
Students should be able to verbally express their expectations to their
children for disciplinary purposes.
