The Lesson Plan

Introduce the lesson:
The teacher will model descriptive narration about activities performed the previous weekend using past tense verbs and adverbs.

Teach the lesson:
Pair students so one describes to the other what she or he did the previous weekend.

Practice the lesson:
Students will change partners to practice and acquire different vocabulary. The teacher will monitor, annotate, and clarify past tense verbs while students are exchanging experiences.

Assess the lesson:
The teacher will ask each student to narrate one experience without using a previous sentence or response used by another peer. The teacher will post responses. The students will also mimic using a cell phone to describe weekend experiences using as much descriptive vocabulary as possible. (Using a cell phone omits gestures as a form of communication.)

Apply the lesson to the real world:
The students will be able to communicate to others about things they have done in the past.
