The Lesson Plan
Introduce the lesson:
The teacher walks in the class without speaking, just using hand gestures and
body language.
Teach the lesson:
The teacher will hand a “verb” flashcard (written on index
cards-- ex: Cooking on the stove, washing the clothes, reading a book,
painting the house, sweeping the floor) to each student to act out. The
cards will contain verbs depicting everyday chores around the house. The
teacher will model the first flashcard.
Practice the lesson:
One student will act out the “verb” flashcard in front of
the class by using gestures and body language. The student who
guesses it correctly will be next.
Assess the lesson:
A video will be shown depicting the chores that students can act out.
(Teacher can pause the video to discuss a few chores.) Students will
name the action shown on the video. The video name is POSTERS FROM
BUSTER: MEET AT THE FAIR (KNOX, INDIANA) : http://streaming.discoveryeducation.com There
are eleven segments and the teacher can select which one to show for
the activity.
Apply the lesson to the real world:
Students will write down each family member’s chores and describe
them to the class.
