Before you begin

Title: “This is Just Right”

Standard(s): ESL Read with Understanding  

Benchmark(s): 1.4

Objective:  To read to a child. Answer “Wh” ?’s and to work on inflection, pronunciation, and for understanding.

Materials: The Story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Estimated time needed to prepare for this lesson plan:  30 minutes

Estimated time needed to complete this lesson plan:  1 hour and 30 minutes

The Lesson Plan

Introduce the lesson:
Define fairy tale. Brief intro. on well-known fairy tales. Ask students for famous fairy tales in their cultures. Show a brief video of fairy tale.

Teach the lesson:
Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Read part of story

Practice the lesson: 
Practicing reading for pronunciation and comprehension veering who, where, what, when, why students read aloud and to each other.

Assess the lesson:
Check understanding of vocabulary and comprehension. Listen to their reading.

Apply the lesson to the real world:
Read to their kids and report back to class as to whether student’s kids enjoyed it.
