The Lesson Plan
Introduce the lesson:
Show pictures of various families. Include different sizes of families, different
cultures, different ages and different geographic locations. Interact with
students commenting about likenesses and differences.
Teach the lesson:
Tell students they are being asked to write about a memory. Suggest they
think about the following questions as they being their story. What
kind of house do you remember living in? What is a memory of that house?
Tell something about all the family members who lived in the house.
Was the house in a town or in the country? What were the games you
played? What were some of the foods you enjoyed?
Practice the lesson:
Students write narratives about their memories of home in an organized
format.
Assess the lesson:
Observe students as they write. Assist if help is requested. Have students
share their stories on a voluntary basis.
Apply the lesson to the real world:
To enhance writing skills, have students think about subjects they could
write about from real like experiences.
