Materials: TxDot Driver’s Ed Manual, colored paper and/or markers, black and white copies of signs, AAA manual

Estimated time needed to prepare for this lesson plan: 30 min - 1 hour

Estimated time needed to complete this lesson plan: 1 hour

The Lesson Plan

Introduce the lesson:
Have students look at color / black and white copies of signs based on prior knowledge.

Teach the lesson:
In small groups, have the students agree/disagree with the colors on signs. then decide on significance of the colors. Have the students refer to manual for the correct answers.

Practice the lesson:
Review AAA travel guides and view uses of signs and colors on the road.

Assess the lesson:
Distribute matching exercise for assessing comprehension.

Apply the lesson to the real world:
Identify and report on signs from home to class.
