The Lesson Plan
Introduce the lesson:
Brainstorm with the class the meaning of global warming. Ask students
what are some questions that come to mind in terms of global warming.
Come up with things that assist them in answering questions about global
warming.
Teach the lesson:
Distribute copies of the Global Warming Fact Sheet to the class. Emphasize
various words that are difficult. Students should maintain a list of
the words unfamiliar to them. Teacher makes an overall vocabulary list.
Using http://puzzlemaker.school.discovery.com/ teacher can create a
puzzle to teach the words from the vocabulary list.
Practice the lesson:
Have students conduct individual research on global warming and present
their findings to the class. During this process they identify unfamiliar
words, incorporate new words into their presentations, and incorporate
their research findings into their daily lives.
Assess the lesson:
Create a test or quiz for students based on the lesson covered.
Apply the lesson to the real world:
Students will gain familiarity with words and terms that will enlighten
them on ways to protect the environment and help to prevent global
warming. In addition students will be able to associate words and terms
with news reports on global warming.
