Adult Literacy Education (ALE) Wiki – Learn about adult literacy education or add knowledge from your experience teaching adult learners, from research or professional wisdom, or from your experience as an adult learner. This community of practice has links to research for practitioners, researchers, learners and other adult literacy educators, including English language learning, numeracy, and adult basic and secondary education.

Adult Numeracy Network Numeracy Discussion List -   Join the Adult Numeracy Network's (ANN) electronic discussion list for ideas and discussion on the teaching of numeracy and basic mathematics to adult learners.

Adult Numeracy Network - (ANN) is a a community dedicated to quality mathematics instruction at the adult level. Members support each other, encourage collaboration and leadership, and influence policy and practice in adult math instruction.

Home Buying Guides - The Fannie Mae Foundation is committed to helping more first-time home buyers learn what it takes to buy a home. Guides offered in a variety of languages include: Knowing and Understanding Your Credit; Opening the Door to a Home of Your Own; Choosing the Mortgage That's Right for You; and Borrowing Basics: What You Don't Know Can Hurt You.

Making Money Work! - In conjunction with the National Endowment for Financial Education and the Bank of America, Women Work! developed this free financial literacy curriculum to meet the unique needs faced by women in transition, thereby improving their chances of economic stability.

Money Smart - This financial education resource from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is intended to serve individuals who may be unfamiliar with the benefits of having a relationship with an insured depository institution. Topics include: an introduction to bank services; an introduction to credit; how to choose and keep a checking account; how to keep track of your money; why you should save; your rights as a consumer; how your credit history will affect your credit future; how to make a credit card work for you; know what you're borrowing before you buy; and what home ownership is all about. The Clearinghouse Library has loan copies in binder form in English and Spanish, available to Texas educators.

SABES Math Initiative Resources - The System for Adult Basic Education Support (SABES) of the Massachusetts Department of Education hosts an extensive list of resources as part of their math initiative. Resources include the SABES Math Bulletin. Planned as a quarterly newsletter summarizing recent research-related findings applicable to the math educator, Vol. 1, No. 1 was published online in October 2006.

Skillswise is a website with resources for both adult learners and tutors to help adults improve their reading, writing and math skills. Factsheets, worksheets, quizzes and games to help adults improve their English skills (grammar, spelling, reading, listening, writing, and vocabulary) and math skills (whole numbers; measures, shape and space; fractions, decimals and percentages; and handling data). Skillswise is being developed and created by BBC Interactive Factual and Learning.

TERC - TERC's work in mathematics and science education includes research, curriculum and technology development, and implementation support, including professional development. TERC has worked extensively with ABE programs and supports formal as well as informal learning. Highlights of TERC's work in ABE include the EMPower Curriculum and other classroom resources; out-of-school resources, including games, software, and museum education; professional development opportunities (consultations, workshops); and research and evaluation expertise.

The Math Forum - This forum describes itself as "a leading center for mathematics and mathematics education on the Internet" and operates under Drexel University's School of Education. The forum's "online community includes teachers, students, researchers, parents, educators, and citizens at all levels who have an interest in math and math education."

UBUYACAR - Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction developed this resource beginning with the problem statement, "You are interested in purchasing a new vehicle. What should your annual salary be to afford the car you want?" Student Manual guides students to understand the problem, devise a plan to use the Internet to research the problem, carry out the plan using mathematical operations, and evaluate their solution. Tutor Manual provides an overview of the tutor/teacher's role in problem-based learning, the problem-solving process, suggestions, questions, and resources. The Clearinghouse distributes free hard copies to Texas educators.
