A Road Map to the U.S. Constitution - This site is dedicated to providing students of all kinds with knowledge of the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Awesome Stories This website includes high-interest stories that students in pre-GED or Intermediate-Advanced ESL classes would enjoy reading. Categories of the stories include: Biography, Disasters, Famous Trials, Flicks, History, Inspiration, Religion, and Law Buzz.

Beyond the GED: Making Conscious Choices About the GED and Your Future -- Updated in 2006 from original 2000 version to include new data and information on the Internet, this set of classroom materials developed by NCSALL is designed to provide GED preparation learners with practice in graph and chart reading, calculation, analyzing information, and writing, while they examine the labor market, the role of higher education, and the economic impact of the GED. The intent is to prepare learners to make wise decisions about their work lives as well as being better prepared to pass the GED. Clearinghouse disseminates free copies to Texas educators only.

GED 2002 Online Professional Development from Kentucky Educational Television - Information on the GED Tests and strategies in such areas as problem solving, calculator use, graphic literacy, essay writing, or critical thinking skills.

GED Changes Coming in 2012 -- The General Educational Development Testing Service (GEDTS) has announced that the fifth GED test series will be ready by January 1, 2012, and not by January 2011 as planned.  A Web page about the 2012 release is now available, and includes both the official announcement and a comprehensive list of frequently asked questions for GED administrators, policymakers, researchers, prospective test-takers, and teachers, and a sample template letter to alert new test-takers to the transition. 

GED Connection - 39 half-hour video programs for the GED classroom (reproducible and available on loan through the Clearinghouse - call 800-441-READ to check them out). Series also includes three student workbooks (order through GED Connection website and ask for Texas discount -- NOT available through the Clearinghouse) and FREE Internet learning activities, quizzes, and practice tests. Designed to meet new GED requirements as of 2002.

GED Connections Practice Tests - PBS Literacy Links' online component of the GED Connections series allows learners to take a "free online pretest" to see where they need to study in each of the five GED content areas, then go right to the Internet activities that will help most. These are not the "Official Practice Test," but they were created from the same pool of questions provided by the GED Testing service. Half the length of the OPT, they were designed to help learners plan how to use the GED Connection learning activities to improve your skills and knowledge for the GED test. The online practice tests are scored automatically and you will give you immediate feedback as to what was wrong and why. To access the online features of GED Connection, a learner just has to register, create a user name and password here.

GEDforFree.com - Site offer free GED online practice test and preparation course, supported by advertising. Designed for adults with a ninth-grade education or higher, the course provides a preparation and training program in the test topics, and includes tips and strategies. Special attention is paid to GED math.

GED Records Request - The GED Unit at Texas Education Agency maintains information about GED testing in Texas, including certificates of high school equivalency and GED test scores.

GED Testing Centers in Texas - This site has an alphabetical list of GED Testing Center sites with office hours, testing fees and days of week testing is administered.

Harnessing Technology Web Page - The Harnessing Technology Web pages help adult literacy education (ABE/GED/ESL/ESOL) teachers and learners to use computers, television, audio and video cassettes, and other electronic technology to help solve learning and instructional problems. The Web pages grow and improve as practitioners and learners describe problems and contribute good solutions which use technology. Problems and solutions which are unattributed are those of site host David J. Rosen of Boston's Adult Literacy Resource Institute.

Lessons and Practice Exercises for Teaching Use of the Casio fx-260 Calculator - The 2000 Development Fund award went to Jeri Braunagel of Missouri Valley Adult Education Association who designed lessons and practice exercises for teaching use of the Casio fx-260 calculator. These lessons are in Adobe PDF format or text version for instructors' use.

Mrs. Glosser’s Math Goodies - Free math help site features over 400 pages of interactive lessons, homework help, worksheets and forums.

Steck-Vaughn GED Practice Test Online - Gedpractice.com is a free service provided by Steck-Vaughn to familiarize learners with the types of items they will see on the actual GED Test. By answering GED practice questions and getting feedback, learners can develop a feel for the kind of reading, thinking, and problem-solving skills needed to pass the GED Test.

Texas Education Agency GED (General Educational Development) Unit - The GED Unit issues equivalency certificates to qualified candidates; issues duplicate certificates and transcripts; and maintains records of testing activities, among other functions.

Transitioning Adults to College: Adult Basic Education Program Models -- NCSALL Occasional Paper describes five models that staff of the New England Literacy Resource Center categorized through a survey of adult education centers around the U.S., which have transition components. Five models are described, include: Advising, GED-Plus, ESOL, Career Pathways, and College Preparatory. Themes and recommendations are also desribed, which others contemplating adult transition services might find helpful. Clearinghouse disseminates free copies to Texas educators only.

Web-Based Training for GED Administrators - ACE of Florida, Inc. developed this web-based training program to provide the GED administrator with some tools and techniques to address the challenges ahead. This self-paced program has been designed as a 5-hour inservice component with part of the training utilizing resources on the Internet and the remainder completed through activities related to your GED program.
