Adult Basic Education ESOL Department
Policies and Rules
- Enrollment is
limited to those persons who complete registration, testing and
orientation at the beginning of each semester.
- Students can enter
the ESOL program three times a year.
- Seventy-five per
cent attendance is required to remain in the program. This will
be determined each month of the semester.
- If your attendance
falls below the standard, you will be given a written reminder
and asked to conference with your instructor
- Please be on time
and stay the entire class period if at all possible. You will not
receive full hourly credit if you are not in class the entire time
- Any student frequently
coming late to class or leaving early (twice a week) may be asked
by his or her teacher to leave the program
- Appropriate classroom
behavior is expected. Attention and participation in class are
required to learn
- Participation
in classroom activities, in listening lab and in computer lab is
expected
- Please show respect
to your teacher and classmates.
- Please dress appropriately
for school. Dress that distracts the attention of students from
the task of learning is inappropriate.
- No alcoholic beverages
are permitted on campus.
- Smoking is permissible
only in designated areas.
- You are expected
to bring your own paper and pencil.
- You cannot
write in the books or take them home unless approved by your
teacher.
- Please handle
all books, instructional materials, equipment and furniture properly.
- Students are not
allowed to sell anything on campus for personal profit.
- No children are
allowed on campus at any time unless childcare is provided by a
public agency and approved by Odessa College.
We are happy to offer
you ESOL classes free of charge. In return, we ask that you follow
the rules and policies of Odessa College Adult Basic Education.
