Description:
- The workshop is designed to give participants on hands strategies in teaching to the GED student form ages 15 – 102.
- Methods are unconventional to fit the learner.
- Training is interactive, includes teaching with the brain in mind, and is hands on.
- Training approach is a modeled approach that the instructor can replicate.
Objectives:
- Provide strategies for teaching GED math
- Increase knowledge about the brain research for the adult learner
- Identify specific mental process necessary to perform math skills
- Learn 5-8 activities that can be utilized in the classroom
- Acquire and apply new practices learned with a “math manipulative” to teach math

Activity Overview:
This “hands-on” workshop will provide interactive lesson plans related to Science concepts that GED students will encounter. Participants will explore lesson plan pitfalls and summits in the GED Science arena using the EFF and SCANS models.
Objectives:
Participants will gain knowledge and techniques of active teaching activities related to the Science elements. Lesson plan ideas will be readily available for utilization in the GED class settings.
Instructional Activities:
- Discussion of Multiple Intelligences and Learner Outcome expectations of GED Students
- Group breakouts—explore various lesson plans related to Science
- Report findings of Group Breakout discussion
- Wrap up
