2007-2008

Renata Russo is currently working on her Ph.D. in Adult Education at Texas A & M University. Her research interests include adult learners’ persistence in adult basic education programs, workplace education and distance learning.

Rose Anna Santos is a Doctoral Student in the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development at Texas A&M University.  Her research interests include literacy development with a focus on factors that most positively facilitate literacy in developing young students.

Rebekah Haynes, a doctoral student in school psychology, will focus her research on literacy found in the home environment, such as shared book reading, as well as factors contributing to the parent-child relationship.

Petra Robinson, a fall 2007 adult education doctoral student, will assess the impact family literacy programs have on various elements of the participants' family life, including economic impact, community involvement, parental engagement, personal development and self-esteem, safety and health environment and accountability, and literacy levels in family units.

Megan Terry, also a doctoral student in school psychology, will create measures for the Home Literacy Environment Test so that it can be used by a variety of researchers and professionals to improve literacy in the home.
