NESA Launches New Family Literacy Journal
NESA (the National Even Start Association) provides a national voice and
vision for Even Start family literacy programs. In Fall 2002, NESA introduced
the first issue of its national, peer-reviewed journal, Family Literacy
Forum, to provide a forum for scholarship regarding the literacy development
of families in home, community, and school-based settings. Volume 1,
Number 1 of Family Literacy Forum included: "The Parenting Education
Profile" by M. Christine
Dwyer; "At the Kitchen Table: Building Home-School Partnerships
that Support Learning" by Jane Spielman; "Early Literacy Attributes
Indicators" by Sean A.Walmsley and Lynnette Pannucci; "Bibliotherapy:
Literacy and Life Support for Families" by Ruth Crawford; and "The
Parent-Teacher Learning Collaborative at Community School 53: The Story
of a Partnership" by Barbara Watanabe Batton. For subscription
