A Few Selected Resources ...MAGAZINES
The Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) is now editing two new magazines for adult English language learners: English Digest and La Familia de la Ciudad (the Spanish version of English Digest). These magazines are designed especially for the needs of adult and young adult ESL students. They provide authentic articles at the high-beginning/low-intermediate language level, using natural and conversational English at a basic 600 to 1000 word level vocabulary. Some of the topics covered in the magazines are: health concerns, national news, consumer information, immigration issues, and popular culture in the United States. With each issue, there is a Teacher's Tips brochure that provides ideas about how to use the articles in the magazines in your ESL classroom. For more information, contact: Center for Applied Linguistics; 1118 22nd St.
NW; Washington, DC 20037-1214; (202) 429-9292 or visit Web site
