Family Literacy
|
Your State Adult Education OfficeROLE
OF LEARNERS AS A FAMILY MEMBER OR PARENT
TEA is building a broad array of committed stakeholders who will develop policies that advocate for and coordinate educational services for Texas families. In Texas, our office wants to create a culture of literacy in which all citizens have the opportunity to become productive, contributing members. Texas will not continue to do well unless ALL of its citizens do well. All family members are lifelong learners. Parents need to be TRUE partners in the education of their children. Local communities need to have the capacity to provide comprehensive family literacy services to the families that need them. Family literacy positively transforms the lives of individuals and communities. Family literacy can ensure that families develop a strong educational foundation in order to reach their full economic, social, and personal potential and to embrace that learning is lifelong. Sheila Rosenberg, Ph.D. - Senior Director, Adult and Community Education
