EMAIL DISCUSSION LISTSERVS!

TCALL’s Adult Literacy Clearinghouse Project hosts “public” statewide Listservs specifically for teachers of adults, for administrators, and for family literacy programs. All you need is an email address. A “non-public” listserv for EL Civics grantees includes only staff of those projects. Decide which of the following listservs is for you!
Adult Literacy Administrators’ Listserv
This TCALL/Adult Literacy Clearinghouse-sponsored discussion list is for Directors and Administrators of Adult Education & Literacy Programs supported by Texas LEARNS—as well as their partners, collaborators, and other administrative staff.

”Teachers Only” Listserv
This discussion list is restricted to those who teach or tutor adults in basic or secondary education or English as a second language, including those in family literacy programs. It will be open to administrators only if they actively teach at least one ABE/ ASE/ ESL class.

Family Literacy Listserv
This discussion list is open to teachers, administrators, and partners of family literacy efforts in Texas. This includes all the Even Start Family Literacy Programs as well as First Lady’s Family Literacy Initiative programs, library-based programs, Head Start parenting educators, and many more.

Listservs are used by Clearinghouse and Texas LEARNS to disseminate important announcements, information about training events, the latest literacy research and statistics, new Clearinghouse Library resources,Web-based resources, and adult literacy policy developments. Listservs are moderated by TCALL’s Clearinghouse Director, so you will receive no “junk” email! List members may use the Listservs to ask questions and join in discussion of issues or problems, or to share instructional or program development ideas with the entire membership of the list. For more Listserv information, send email to: pdurbin@neo.tamu.edu

If you are affiliated with a community-based literacy organization utilizing volunteer tutors, you might be interested in the TAALC TALKS Listserv, hosted by the Clearinghouse and managed by Texas Association for Adult Literacy Councils. For information on TAALC TALKS, visit the organization’s web page.
