Literacy Programs Responding to Communities in Crisis

Recent Donations

Four recent donations to TCALL have us feeling very proud of the work that we have been doing. It is always a pleasure to have our hard work acknow-ledged in the form of contributions. It brings us great joy to be able to return the goodwill to the community in the form of resources and library loan materials. In October, we received the Hastings Entertainment Literacy Donation as a combined effort from both the College Station and Bryan stores. This money has been earmarked to buy books, program materials, and other learning resources for the various adult literacy and family literacy centers affected by the recent hurricanes. If you are an adult or family literacy provider serving individuals in the affected areas, we would like to hear from you to learn what materials we can offer you to help.

More recently we received monetary contributions from two private citizens. Margaret (Peggy) Schulz of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Josephine (Josie) Field of Houston, Texas. Josie’s very generous donation in loving memory of her mother has been used to purchase books to expand our family literacy collection. Another contribution came from Dr. Sue Slusarski, a recently retired professor of adult education living in upstate New York. She kindly contributed a portion of her private library to TCALL. We are quite proud to have her books now lining our shelves. We are grateful for all of these donations. If you would like more information on making a contribution to TCALL, please contact us at
