TALAE ConferenceThe 2003 TALAE Conference will be held in Austin at the Omni Austin Hotel Southpark, January 30 February 1. This year the TALAE conference will offer breakout sessions for family literacy and Even Start programs as well as adult education. TALAE is currently inviting presenters to complete a Call for Presentations and share best practices with other directors, managers, and teachers. Those are due December 6th. TCALL staff can fax or email you a Call for Presentations form. Call 800-441-READ. You can also download the form from here by clicking Call for Presentations. Registration forms for the conference will be available the first of November. On Tuesday and Wednesday, January 28-29, The Adult Literacy Organizational Training Project (ALOTP, housed at Austin Community College Center for Community Based and Nonprofit Organizations) will be introducing a training package they have developed to assist community based and nonprofit organizations. The training package will include information from experts in various areas such as Financial Management, Motivating Volunteers and Staff, and Developing an Effective Communication Strategy. A part of the training package is an Operations Resource Manual that provides information on all phases of establishing and maintaining an effective organization.
