USA Today newspaper online includes the lastest headlines, news briefs, full text news stories, money matters, policital news, sports features, weather, and just about every topic possible. This Web site can be used in the GED classroom to help students keep up to date with current events while improving their reading comprehension and writing skills. News articles could be used in a project-based activity or added to the teacher's collection of realia.

Mrs. Glosser's Math Goodies is a free educational site with more than 400 pages of free math activities and resources. The site is divided into three sections: Math Resources for Parents, Quality Resources for Teachers, and Math Help for Students. Fifty-four interactive math lessons provide students immediate feedback with statistics, pre-algebra, probability, intergers, percentages, and more! For teachers, there's message boards for Teacher Talk, Creative Lesson Ideas, Math & Technology News, and New Teachers.

ThinkQuest is a non-profit organization which offers programs designed to advance education through the use of technology. The Library of Entries contains a collection of educational sites designed through ThinkQuest contests. A multitude of topics can be found at this site. One topic of interest to GED teachers and learners is "A Roadmap to the U.S. Constitution." A copy of the Consitution and Bill of Rights is fully annotated and appropriate for teaching/learning about these important documents for the GED 2002.

The Professional Cartoonist Index features a huge collection of editorial cartoons from 54 newspaper editorial cartoonists. There's a Teacher's Guide, Search for a Cartoon, Daily Editorial Cartoons and more! These cartoons can be used to stimulate students' interest in discussions about current events, technology, famous people -- the list is endless. Appropriate for use in teaching the GED 2002.

Arts & Letters Daily, An Updated Report of News & Reviews, is published on Monday through Saturday of each week. It is loaded with information from all over the world covering such areas of interests as philosophy, literature, culture, history, music, trends, breakthroughs, disputes, and gossip. Clickable links take readers to the homepages of leading journals, magazines, National & World newspapers, news services, Ezines, and radio news. Communication sources from around the world. Appropriate for GED and ESL classrooms.

Connect for Kids is a resource for family literacy programs as well as others "who want to build better communities for kids and families." The Reference Room includes book reviews; public opinion articles; and key reports and data containing comprehensive information on the status of the nation's children.

The U.S. Census Bureau homepage takes readers to the Data Bank from the Census 2000; the Newsstand (news releases, Webcasts, tipsheets, videos, photos); the Reference Room (reports, questionnaires, response rates); and the Group Corner (information for teachers). Even though the Census 2000 is over, this site contains eduation information for GED/ABE/ESL teachers and classrooms.

Daily Grammar can be used by both students and teachers. If a reader subscribes to this free service, an e-mail grammar lesson is sent five days a week and a quiz on the sixth day. There are also over 400 grammar lessons in the archives.
