A new technical report is available from the National Center on Adult Literacy titled Literacy Skills Analysis for Job Training by Judith Shaul Norback. This paper provides a summary of large-scale U.S. studies relating to skills and literacy as an introduction to the discussion of literacy skills analysis for job training. Citizenship Hot Topic Packet: January, 1999. The Texas Adult Literacy Clearinghouse has compiled this Hot Topic Packet to include: Current Issues in Citizenship Testing; Citizenship Test Learning Objectives in US History and Government Structure, plus 100 Sample Questions (from Immigration & Naturalization Service); and Web sites of Citizenship Information & Resources. Tips for Teaching Adults With Learning Disabilities: Hot Topic Packet: January, 1999. The Texas Adult Literacy Clearinghouse has also compiled this new hot topic packet to include the following topics: What are Learning Disabilities?; What are the Characteristics of Learning Disabilities?; Learning Styles and Other Considerations; Tips for Teaching Adults with Learning Disabilities; a Glossary of Terms; Resources; and a Reference listing. The San Diego Community College, Continuing Education Centers, funded by the Commission on Adult Basic Education (COABE/AAACE) has produced Teaching Effective Workplace Communication. This resource is a curriculum bank of lessons designed by adult education instructors to teach the interpersonal skills need in the workplace as fined by the SCANS.
