         At this point the instructions in student workbook did not coincide exactly with our computers. The computers we used may have been updated.

         The rivaled that the students understood the concept of using Excel on the computer

         We filed the students completed works on their portfolios

Title of Lesson: Modifying a MSExcel column and row

         The directions for the modification of the columns and rows as they were written in the student work book did not match the version of Excel that was on our computers. We seem to have a different or faster method for doing that on our computers so the lesson took longer than we had anticipated.

         I used all of the assessments in the teacher lesson plans
If you used the assessments, what type of data did they reveal?
         We printed the output and filed a copy of it in the student file.
If you used the assessments, what did you do with the data you collected from the lessons?
         File a copy in the student file a flyer comparing it to the copy that we knew to be the intended outcome.

         The directions for activities in the student workbook were a little different from what we had to do on our computers. There must be a slightly different version of MS power Point on the computers at EPCC and CTTC.

         I used all of the assessments in the teacher lesson plans

         The students were able to manipulate the shapes and come up with the expected results.
If you used the assessments, what did you do with the data you collected from the lessons?
         The students made two copies of their work. One copy I filed in their portfolio and the other the student kept.

         The three students who are available at this point of the day have had some previous experience with using the computer and so they were able to interpret the instruction in the student book. As is well known computer exercises can be completed in different ways using different menus etc. Absolute beginners would take longer and become frustrated until someone pointed out that the toolbars need to be opened.

         I used all of the assessments in the teacher lesson plans
If you used the assessments, what type of data did they reveal?
         The students were quite competent in their computer abilities.
If you used the assessments, what did you do with the data you collected from the lessons?
         Copies of the students work were filed in the portfolios.

Title of Lesson: Creating a sign with MSWord

         The students doing this segment were somewhat familiar with a computer but they needed help managing the tool bars at the top. That took a little extra time.

         I used all of the assessments in the teacher lesson plans

         The students needed some assistance in bringing the two parts of the main tool bar up to the top.
If you used the assessments, what did you do with the data you collected from the lessons?
         Made a copy and filed it in the students' folders.

Title of Lesson: Creating a list using MSWord

         The activities were easily understood by the students, center align, bullet/numbers after the students found the correct part of the tool bar. As before we had to install or bring from hiding the second part of the tool bar at the top of the screen.

         I used all of the assessments in the teacher lesson plans
If you used the assessments, what type of data did they reveal?
         The students were familiar with some of the features of MS Word and not others.  They all produced the final document.
If you used the assessments, what did you do with the data you collected from the lessons?
         he documents were copied or the students printed 2 copies. Later they were filed in the student folder.

         Students needed quite a bit of help and guidance because school computers appeared to work a little differently than the directions in the student book

         It showed that the student finished the task.
If you used the assessments, what did you do with the data you collected from the lessons?
         I had the students print 2 copies and I filed one in their portfolio.

Title of Lesson: Setting tabs with MSWord

         I demonstrated setting tabs using the ruler and the tab icons to the left of the ruler. Then I referred to the student workbook pages and demonstrated how to find TABS in the Format box. On the computers we use the Format box is found in TOOLS drop down menu. Then I suggested the students could use whichever way they wanted to complete the assignment. One student followed the instructions in the work book. Eventually she got the result that was desired. Meanwhile the teacher monitored the students as they worked.

If you used the assessments, what type of data did they reveal?
         Following the directions for the technology piece in the work book seems to be difficult for most students.
If you used the assessments, what did you do with the data you collected from the lessons?
         Had the students print 2 copies of their work, one for them and one for their file.

Labels are sometimes used on forms, so in that sense this activity was "integrated" with the lesson. Also the lesson said to use Avery 5163. I believe we had to use Avery 5263, 2" by 4". So I don't know if the number in the student book was correct or not.

         I used all of the assessments in the teacher lesson plans
If you used the assessments, what type of data did they reveal?
         The students with a little guidance were able to create and print the labels. Actually I down loaded then to a floppy and printed them at home as the school printer was 'Out of Order'.

         I had two copies made, one for the student and one for the student's portfolio.

         I did not teach this lesson because it was a repeat of Lesson 1.4.

If you did not use the assessments, what were some reasons for not using them?
         We had done this lesson before in module 1 lesson 4.

         This lesson was integrated in the sense that the students got to make a sign. The lesson was more manageable when the students had some guidance as how to use the tool menus etc. We couldn't print this because the printer was down. We hope to down load it to a floppy and print it on a colored printer.

         I used all of the assessments in the teacher lesson plans
If you used the assessments, what type of data did they reveal?
         The students had an opportunity to create a sign. It was a reinforcement on the ESL piece. It was fun too. The students observed that the computer can be used for several things.
If you used the assessments, what did you do with the data you collected from the lessons?
         Hopefully I can get it down loaded to a floppy and print it for the students.
