Use of The Disability-Adapted HOME
(Developmental Delay)
Accommodations may be needed for assessment of the home environment
for children with documented developmental delays. Developmental delays
include conditions such as Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, speech
and communication disorders or autism. The Disability-Adapted HOME (Developmental
Delay) is not intended for use with children whose delays might be the
result of lack of opportunity.
Texas LEARNS recommends that local programs use the Disability-Adapted
HOME (Developmental Delay) only in instances where the developmental
delay has been documented by an outside source. Outside sources include,
but are not limited to, Early Childhood Intervention and medical doctors.
The Disability-Adapted HOME (Developmental Delay) builds upon the original
HOME record forms. The publisher recommends that those administering
the Disability-Adapted HOME (Developmental Delay) be totally familiar
with administration procedures for the Infant Toddler HOME, the Early
Childhood HOME and the Middle Childhood HOME.
The Disability-Adapted HOME (Developmental Delay) has been added to
TESPIRS. Program administrators can now select the following from the
drop down list in TESPIRS.
TESPIRS Drop-down list
HOME Inventory Infant Toddler |
Disability-Adapted HOME IT Dev. Delay |
HOME Inventory Early Childhood |
Disability-Adapted HOME EC Dev. Delay |
HOME
Inventory Middle Childhood |
Disability-Adapted HOME MC Dev. Delay |
The publishers of the HOME have also created Disability-Adapted HOME
for three other disability types. Those forms of the Disability-Adapted
HOME have not been added to TESPIRS due to the low incidence of those
disabilities combined with the cost of modifying software. This could
be revisited based on need and availability of funds.
