The Texas Administrator Credential consists of two distinct parts. These parts are the content Framework and the Structure of the Model. The Content Framework specifies the knowledge and skills that Texas administrators have determined to be necessary in order to perform the role of administrator. The Content Framework was the starting point for the discussions that resulted in the development of the Structure of the Model. Individuals who are assigned in TEAMS to one of the three administrative roles listed below are eligible to pursue the Administrator Credential regardless of their level of experience:
If you are unsure about your eligibility to pursue the Administrator Credential, contact the Credential Project. If Project staff are unable to ascertain your eligibility statusbased on information provided,Project staffwill contact Texas LEARNS for an eligibility determination. Ultimately, Texas LEARNS sets eligibility criteria andarbitrateseligibility issues. Administrators pursuing an Administrator Credential will produce an electronic portfolio. There are six common portfolio products.
Each Electronic Portfolio is scored by a committee composed of volunteer administrators representing each of the eight Regional GREAT Centers of Excellence. A minimum of three committee members review each of the six common portfolio products and make professional judgments based on the requirements outlined in the scoring rubric. The Administrator Credential Model emphasizes the value of experience and encourages the use of collaborative learning communities and mentor relationships. The credentialing process provides an opportunity for novice administrators and administrators employed in less comprehensive roles to obtain a variety of experiences intended to prepare them for increased responsibility and continued career growth. Experienced administrators may obtain a new perspective and understanding of their role through introspection and reflective practice. Next | Previous | Table of Contents
