Texas Center for the Advancement of Literacy & Learning (TCALL) is committed to making its Web site accessible to all users, and we are committed to making our Web site/Web pages compliant with Section 508 standards.

We have included several features designed to improve accessibility for users with disabilities. Some of these features are described below:

• Images on the site contain 'alt tags' with descriptions of the image, which aid users who listen to the content of the site by using a screen reader, rather than reading the site.
• A 'skip navigation' link provides users with a method for bypassing the header and going directly to the main content each time a page is accessed.
• PLEASE NOTE: Reports & special publications made available on this site are generally in HTML format. On occasion we have made available documents that are only available in non-HTML format. PDF format.
• Alternative Format of Portions of the Website
  Copies of portions of our Web site are available in alternative format upon request. Adobe® Acrobat® Reader	Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® is free software that lets you view and print Adobe® Portable Document Format (PDF) files. If you do not have Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® on your computer, you can download it by using the link on the left. You may also convert PDF to HTML via Adobe's® conversion form.
Macromedia Flash®	The Macromedia Flash Player® is a plugin used to view content created with Macromedia Flash®. If you do not have Macromedia Flash Player® on your computer, you can download it by using the link on the left.
Microsoft Excel®	This plugin allows Microsoft Internet Explorer® to open, view and print Microsoft Excel® spreadsheet software documents without requiring Microsoft Excel® spreadsheet software to be installed. If you do not have Microsoft Excel® spreadsheet software on your computer, you can download the viewer by using the link on the left.
Microsoft PowerPoint®	This plugin allows Microsoft Internet Explorer® to open, view and print PowerPoint® documents without requiring PowerPoint® to be installed. If you do not have PowerPoint® on your computer, you may download it by using the link on the left. Accessibility note: The PowerPoint® Viewer plugin does not meet accessibility guidelines. The link to the plugin on this page is only provided as a way to make PowerPoint files on web sites usable to those users without PowerPoint installed on their computers. If you require an accessible version of a PowerPoint® file hosted on an official TCALL web page, please view the content through PowerPoint®, or contact the Webmaster to request the information in an alternative format.
Microsoft® Word	This program allows you open Microsoft® Word documents without requiring Microsoft® Word to be installed. If you do not have Microsoft® Word on your computer, you may download it by using the link on the left.

This site is best viewed with the latest versions of Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Internet Explorer^®. Both new browsers can be downloaded free from the links below. Some of the older browsers do not support JAVA, which is used in the links buttons on the main pages. There is alternative text navigation provided at the bottom of each page on the site.

Site navigation can be accomplished through the "menu buttons" on the main TCALL pages as well as text navigation at the bottom of each page.  Address and telephone information can also be found there.

If there is no "back" link at the bottom of a page, just click the "Back" button on your browser to return to the previous document. The "back" text links provided by the webmaster will normally return you to the "Index" or "Main Page" section of the area of our site you have been viewing.  Some pages do not lend themselves to this type of navigation and therefore, links are not provided.  You can return to the "Home" page from every page on the site if you feel you are "lost" or wish to visit our main header pages.

Various documents can be obtained in "hard copy" from the Adult and Family Literacy Clearinghouse.  Please contact the Clearinghouse, for more information.

Links to various web sites located throughout the newsletters on this  web site were valid at the time of publication.  Web sites change often and therefore, some of the links may not be valid at this time.  For helpful information on how to search for a specific document on the web, please read the article, "Can't Find It!
